Accessibility Improvements for Guests

Beverly Cree, President, and Dick Fencl, Vice President, of The Mountain Endowment Board of Directors,  demonstrate the new automatic door opening system at the main entrance of the Lodge.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Live Oak UU Church Endowment Fund (Cedar Park, TX) and gift from the Mountain Endowment Fund, new automatic door openers have been installed at six major building entrances to improve accessibility for our guests. These entrances include the Dining Hall and Commons exterior doorway, Dining Hallway interior doorway, Lodge main entrance, Lower Rec Hallway entrances, and the Tree House main entrance.

In addition to improved accessibility, these automatic door systems are a big help to staff and others who may be moving supply carts from one point to another, or carrying an armload of items!

Kudos and appreciation go out to our resident volunteer, Ian Carson, with assistance from volunteer John Hagler of the Northwest UU Congregation. Thanks to Facilities Manager, Russell Hunnewell and team, for the oversight of this important project of benefit to a growing number of Mountain guests and visitors.
