5Rhythms Dance Movement Retreat Fall 2024

September 19 - September 22

Embodied Sanctuary

SANCTUARY: the root word means holy, a sacred place or refuge, safety and protection

We can make a sanctuary in our body. For many of us our body is a foreign territory, unknown to us even as we inhabit this vessel. How do we create SANCTUARY in our body?

The collective can be a place of SANCTUARY where we find refuge and restoration. How do we make SANCTUARY together?

When we are resourced we can provide shelter and shade for those who need it, our lives and bodies as a place of safety and protection. How do we become a SANCTUARY for others?

The 5Rhythms are the foundation of Gabrielle Roth’s body of work, a series of healing maps for BODY HEART MIND SOUL SPIRIT. A map that serves as a dynamic container for you to journey wherever you wish to go but will always lead you home.

This guided dance movement practice powerfully catalyses our body’s wild intelligence in a freely expressed movement meditation through an exploration of our interior landscape so that we can be more: alive, authentic, human. A practice where moving is metaphor and movement is medicine.

The 5Rhythms is carried by a worldwide circle of teachers who are somatic DJ’s and embodiment facilitators, who have been rigorously trained. We are steeped in a half century-long lineage. There is literally a wave that rolls across the globe every single day that we’re a part of here

About Julie Stuart: Julie has over two decades of experience as a consultant & facilitator of emergence who works with organizations and individuals to navigate complex change, imagine new ways of being and create strategies forward from collective wisdom using deep dialogue, large-scale visual mapping and embodiment practices. She designs and guides transformative workshops which explore the intersection of sensuality, intuition, art and movement. She is a certified teacher of the 5Rhythms created by Gabrielle Roth and of the Non-linear Movement method created by Michaela Boehm. Julie spends as much time as she can in her painting studio, on dance floors, and sailboats because the ocean is her lifelong soulmate. Her work is online at www.juliestuart5rhythms.com and www.makingideasvisible.com

We welcome people of all cultures, identities, creeds, genders and sexualities, all sizes, abilities and life stages. You don’t need to feel strong or energetic to join us. If you’re breathing, you’ve got all you need. Chairs available for seated dance.
