From Sustainability to Climate Justice

It’s easy to become discouraged or overwhelmed by the climate crisis.  We feel better when we take small steps toward sustainability, like recycling and shrinking our personal carbon footprint, but the scale of the global challenge is vast.

Responding to the comprehensiveness of climate justice issues, this conference is designed to broaden your understanding of:

  • the science of climate change and its worldwide impact
  • opportunities for addressing climate justice – personally, locally and globally
  • the importance of self-care in the work of climate justice

Key Presenters and Workshops

Rev. Fred Small uses meditation, reflection, conversation, and song to quicken our spirits in the struggle for climate justice. Fred is well-known for his work as an environmental lawyer, singer and songwriter, and currently a Unitarian Universalist minister focused on climate justice.

Richard Crume shares information about the science of climate change, its relation to climate justice, and the impact of various energy sources. He was formerly with the EPA, where he helped write the Clean Power Plan.

Christine Stay and Aidan Quinn of Friction Farm inspire through their music and workshops featuring their energy efficient home and how music changes the world.

Pam and Charley Rogers provide strategies to enhance communicate skills for the work of climate justice. They are with the Charter for Compassion International.

David Novak will lead participants in Buckminster Fuller’s “World Game” about the distribution and consumption of world resources.  David is a master storyteller and “insight-enabler.”

Additional workshops will help you learn about world resources, fossil fuels and their alternatives, food production, and more. Concerts, storytelling, and other experiences end each day.
